The Search for Minions

Geek World has unwittingly helped me on my quest for minions. They thought they were being clever hiding a gem amongst the photos from the 2010 Anime Expo. Maybe they didn't think I'd find them.

These Snuggie-clad wizards are sure to make the perfect minions! They must have used their crazy wizardly magic to create such a remarkable blend of style and comfort!

Beware my Geeky Overlords! Soon there will be a day when you will be in awe of the greatness of Geekin!

Pondering Plans to Take Over the World

AnnaMay & Dave are holding me back! I have been watching old episodes of Animaniacs to get ideas for taking over the world from Pinky and the Brain. I think Pinky may have been onto something. Somewhere between the rubber pants and the hippopotamus in a thong there is a genius plan for world domination (boy am I lucky Brain never realized it). AnnaMay and Dave better watch their backs because by the time I'm done Geek World will be Geekin World! Next step: find myself some minions!

IRON MAN 2 INTERVIEW!!!!!!RESCHEDULED!!!!

For all of you tuning in today to hear our Iron Man 2 Interview with Anya Monzikova you might wonder while your listening when the interview will start. 12pm? 12:30pm? 1:00pm? Well the correct answer is May! We had a little schedule snafu so we will unfortunetly not be talking to Anya this episode.

Luckily we have a ton of crazy stuff up our sleeve this episode, including a Thor comics vs mythology Q.A. with our Norwegian correspondent "The Arne", and correspondent "Stupid Sister" will help us discuss playing Heavy Rain as a jerk!! Along with an Oscars wrap up and a review of Resident Evil 5: Desperate Escape, we're geeking so hardcore we're looking for our Tripto!

Spicoli Steals the Show at the OSCARS!!!!!!!!

spicoli
Image Property of Universal Pictures

It was a great night at the Oscars, The Dude won his first Academy Award, Kathryn "Point Break" Bigelow was the first woman to ever win a Best Director Oscar (WHOA!!!), and Sandra "Speed" Bullock won her first award as Best Actress (WHOA!!! again), then totally raved about her sexy Bound-like friendship with Meryl "too awesome for a nickname" Streep.

With all the surprises and groundbreaking moments at the 82nd Academy Awards there was one special thespian who stole the show, this actor was brave enough to take the stage as one of his most beloved characters. Sean Penn, last year's Best Actor winner, presented the award for Best Actress as Jeff Spicoli, his breakout role from 1982's Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Somewhere between a modern day Brando and Andy Kaufman, his method approach was admirable-

"I never became an official memory of the Academy, but the Academy and I do have in common that we managed to n-n-n-n-n-neglect to acknowledge the same actress in our own ways nnn... 2 years running, so I...I...I... um...gonna start fresh with the Academy and and uh acknowledge these wonderful actresses, uh here are the nominees..."

I must say Mr. Penn's dedication to his craft is very Daniel Day Lewis-ian!

According to Geekin's sources, when giving Sandra Bullock her statue Penn said "Aloha, Mr. Hand!" and high fived the first time winner. He then went backstage where the pizza he ordered had just arrived.

UPDATE: The backstage scoop may be incorrect. We have just learned that Geekin's sources may have been a surfboard and a bus on the 405.

Bumblebee Hits the Skids!!

Sci Fi Wire interviewed Industrial Light & Magic animation supervisor Scott Benza about his work on Transformers 3.

"Our two lead characters, Optimus and Bumblebee, needed to be updated for the next chapter in the Transformers series," said animation supervisor Scott Benza in an exclusive interview Sunday at the Visual Effects Society Awards in Century City, Calif., where he and visual effects supervisor Scott Farrar were nominees. "Bumblebee's matured a little bit, so I would just say look for subtle changes to his physique that have him look more mature."

Bumblebee's physique more mature?

Geekin talked to his inside sources who were able to shed some light. Apparently the scoop is that after the events of Transformers 2, where Sam was totally uncool and abandoned Bumblebee to go off to college, Bumblebee decided to leave Sam and go off on his own adventures. He met up with troubled Pop Princess Courtney Gears, and they become romantically involved. After starring in a failed short lived reality show called Technotronic, they had 2 kids and Bumblebee attempted (and failed) at a rap career with fellow Autobots Wheelie and Skids. The romance short circuited when Courtney had a ratchet thrown in her Gears because of a short partnership with a Nefarious doctor and subsequent meltdown. Bumblebee became depressed and gained a lot of weight, thus his more "mature look".  Recently Bumblebee signed up to be on Robo-Celebrity Fit Club in an attempt to get back in fighting shape. Now the question is whether or not Bumblebee can forgive Sam and rejoin the Autobots in their ongoing battle with the Decepticons.

Wow, sounds like Michael Bay's really taking Transformers into a whole different direction! Well maybe that's not such a bad thing considering Transformers 2.

Update: We might need to call our scoop an unconfirmed rumor, being that AnnaMay just found out that Geekin's "inside sources" were an actual bumblebee and the number 3!

GEEKIN SAW SAW

Geekin_Saw_Building

Geekin was too polite to say anything but we heard him grumble "are they ever going to stop making these?"
We responded, "No Geekin, they will never stop as long as they make money"
Geekin took a moment and said "then this one should have at least been in space"

We agree Geekin... we agree

Geekin Vancouver!

Geekin_Vancouver

Geekin_vancouver_2

In honor of the Winter Olympics, Geekin traveled to Vancouver to point out the grass roofed stadium (they're raising bees up there, mostly cause Mark Wahlberg was concerned about the bees, and what's happening with them) and that Chevron station right in the middle of the water!

Olympic Geekiness: Figure Skating Edition

Tuesday night Geek World was watching the Male Figure Skating competition (hey don't judge us man!) and one of the Japanese skaters, Nobunari Oda (2009 Japanese Champion), according to the NBC commentator is "the 17th descendant of Nobunaga Oda... the famous Japanese Warlord, 1534-1582 in the age of the Japanese Civil War... inspiration for the Super Nintendo video game series Nobunaga's Ambition." First off, nice geeksearch NBC, secondly, it's just kinda awesome!
